The Bookspeed classics that keep selling
At Bookspeed, we take great pride in selecting products with our retail customers’ needs in mind. And when we find something that we think will fly off the shelves, we love to share it.
Over the years, we’re proud to have placed some brilliant bestsellers in 100s of retailers’ ranges. Some of these products have been so successful, they’ve given our customers the confidence to try more books.
We wanted to shine a spotlight on these Bookspeed faves, and suggest some fantastic alternatives if you’re looking to freshen things up.
1. Poo Bingo
When Poo Bingo arrived on the scene four years ago, we knew it had all the elements to be a bestseller. Cute illustrations. Check. High quality. Check. Wholesome family fun. Check. Plus, what kid isn’t weirdly obsessed with poo?! It’s still one of our most in-demand items and can sell virtually anywhere, from trendy independent boutiques to museums and visitor attractions.

There’s another scatological game in da house. Poo Bingo manufacturer Laurence King has brought out a new family-friendly memory game Did You Fart?, featuring the same quirky illustrative style. It was one of our bestsellers at Top Drawer and we reckon it’s going to be every bit as popular as Poo Bingo.
2. Little People, Big Dreams
More than 10 years ago, Spanish author Maria Isabel Sanchez had an idea for a children’s book series to inspire children using the stories of real-life heroes and heroines. Ever since, these titles have been a staple of so many of our customers’ product ranges, adding a pop of colour to displays or taking centre stage as part of a dedicated wall display. The series' popularity shows no signs of waning, with new people, including Taylor Swift to Salvador Dali, being regularly added to the series.

There really isn’t a series to rival the success of Little People, Big Dreams when it comes to sharing inspiring life stories for a young audience. But if you’d like to find something with the same gifting potential and visual impact, take a look at the new Wordsworth Heritage editions of children’s classics. They look fantastic displayed as a series or interspersed with other products.
3. The Cocktail Bible
This classy little number has been selling in stacks for years. It’s not difficult to see the appeal. With a lux cover that evokes 1920s speakeasies, this is a comprehensive drinks manual for a person who loves to host.

While we love The Cocktail Bible, it has been around for a while. Cocktail books are hardly a rare species, but we’re drawn to Cult Cocktails for adding some newness to your food and drinks ranges. Its vibrant design feels fresh and contemporary and it offers straightforward recipes for 100 popular cocktails. Pass that cocktail shaker now!
4. The Salt Path
Raynor Winn’s memoir of homelessness and recovery in nature won awards and earned critical acclaim, but it wasn’t just the powerful story that drew our attention. We love Angela Harding’s beautifully illustrated cover, which helped place this book in many rural and coastal gift shops and attractions.

Fans of The Salt Path may also appreciate Amy Liptrot’s 2018 memoir The Outrun, which is now a critically acclaimed movie starring Saoirse Ronan. The book documents Liptrot’s experiences recovering from addiction in Orkney. A new edition has been published to tie in with the film, but we love the pretty cover featured on the original edition.
5. The Forager’s Calendar
The foraging community grew during the Covid pandemic, and Jon Voight’s Forager’s Calendar swiftly became the go-to title on the subject. It’s been a consistent bestseller for a few years, proving that foraging is more than a fad.

Danielle Gallacher has been foraging for more than 20 years and her Forager’s Almanac was one of our most popular titles at Top Drawer. We’re delighted to be able to highlight a female voice in this space, and the cover is utterly charming and bang on trend.
