Description
In 1989, Anne Cholawo was a typical London career girl working in advertising. While holidaying on Skye, she noticed a property for sale on the Isle of Soay - ‘access by courtesy of fishing boat’. Ten minutes after stepping off the said boat she was beguiled, and a few months later she moved there to live. Alongside her descriptions of rural isolation and self-sufficiency, this is an account of Soay’s history, wildlife, and the colourful characters who have lived there, including the enigmatic Gavin Maxwell.
