The Prophet is a poetic fable by the Lebanese artist, philosopher and writer Khalil Gibran. Telling the story of the prophet Al-Mustafa and his conversations with various acquaintances as he returns home after a long absence, the chapters deal with topics including love, marriage, children, eating and drinking, joy and sorrow, crime and punishment, laws, freedom, reason and passion, pain, self-knowledge, friendship, talking, time, good and evil, prayer, pleasure, beauty, religion, and death.
