Description
From 2015 to 2017, the acclaimed Scottish artist Barbara Rae made three journeys towards the Northwest Passage. In her sketchbooks, meticulously reproduced here, she captures in colourful and assured brushstrokes the icebergs, frozen bays and snowdrifts she encountered. Polar bears, caribou and the Northern Lights also appear, accompanied by Rae’s handwritten notes in which she records her experiences and her immediate reactions to this harsh, unforgiving environment.
