Description
Returning to Britain in 1947 with two young children to support, Margaret Durrell starts a boarding house in Bournemouth. But hopes of respectability are dashed by her eccentric tenants: from a painter of nudes to a pair of glamorous young nurses whose ever-revolving roster of gentleman callers leads to a neighbourhood rumour that Margo is running a brothel. Margo's sons, Gerry and Nicholas, prove every bit as mischievous as their famous Uncle Gerald - himself prone to appearing with weird and wonderful animals quite unsuitable for a Bournemouth garden.
