Description
At the height of its operation, the Edinburgh tramway system was one of the most modern in the UK and ran around 360 trams. There were proposals to build extensions after the war; however, in 1952 Edinburgh Corporation announced it would convert to bus operation. Over the next four years the system was rapidly abandoned with the last tram operating on 16 November 1956. With a range of rare and previously unpublished images, this book looks at the history of the city's tram system.
