Description
This extensively illustrated volume places the wallpaper designs of William Morris within the context of radical changes in taste during the Victorian era. During this period, concepts of honesty and propriety were promoted by members of the Reform Movement such as A. W. N. Pugin and Owen Jones, and imported Japanese wallpapers also exerted their influence. The book explores the work of other designers including Christopher Dresser and C. F. A. Voysey, and significant firms including Jeffrey & Co. and Arthur Sanderson & Sons, both of whom block-printed the Morris wallpapers.
