UPROOTING: FROM THE CARIBBEAN TO THE COUNTRYSIDE (HB)

The question of ‘home’ has troubled Marchelle Farrell all her life. Years ago, she left the beaches and emerald hills of Trinidad. Now, she has moved again for the peaceful surroundings of the English countryside. Relocation seems to present an opportunity. But placed within the context of a worldwide pandemic, and ongoing racial protests, the move begins to expose to her the legacy of colonialism. Is this really home? And can she ever feel truly grounded? An attempt to find safety, stability and a sense of belonging in an English country garden.
