A celebration of the social modernist and brutalist architecture of the former East Germany which allows architecture afficionados to reconstruct some of the most intriguing edifices built between the early 1950s and the late 1980s. Includes the massive plattenbauten of Rostock, icons of the DDR-Moderne such as Kino International or Haus des Berliner Verlages, to the now-demolished relic of East Germany's heyday, the Mokka-Milch-Eisbar 'Kosmos'. Includes 9 illustrated paper models to cut out and assemble, an introduction on the history of architecture in the former DDR, a short text on each building and easy-to-follow instructions.
