Entries rate the hardiness of each plant, the rating reflecting the reality of the plant's performance in Scotland and includes plants that have been bred in Scotland or have strong Scottish associations. The book also lists over 500 plants that hold the Scottish Gardenplant Award and features lists of plants for special purposes, such as plants resistant to deer and rabbits.
